THE INTERNATIONAL AWARD FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
The Award Programme was first introduced by HRH Prince Philip in the United Kingdom in 1956 as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. The Award is an individual challenge which encourages personal discovery and growth, self-reliance, perseverance, responsibility, as well as service to their community. To date there are more than 7,000,000 participants from 136 countries that have participated in the Award. The participation age is between 14 and 25 years. The Award consists of 4 Sections which are; Service, Adventurous Journey, Skills and Physical Recreation. There are 3 levels of the Award – Bronze, Silver, and Gold. At Gold level, participants are required to undertake a Residential Project.
